Then and now
There are those of us who worked for Mercer for a long time, and we can remember some good times as well. Personally I worked at Mercer for over a decade and when I started there it was a great place to work. They cared about people, they gave real raises (based on real performance). I remember a few different things I would say to people when they asked me about working at Mercer. One reply I would give them was “Mercer is a place where the cream is allowed to rise to the top”, and another thing I would say is “I walk in every day with a smile on my face, and walk out every night used up”. Well Mercer stopped letting the cream rise to the top, they just kept moving the same incompetent people around to new positions every 12 to 18 months (read LI, SN, DP, etc.), and for the last 10 months of my employment there I never walked in with a smile, I walked in with an attitude of “what fresh hell awaits me today”.
Do you remember the good times? Let’s hear about some of the funny stories (i.e. Mercer 101) from Mercer past, and also where you think Mercer went wrong.
